Plitvice Lakes National Park is largest of Croatia's eight National Parks. Plitvice Lakes was proclaimed a National Park in 1949, also making it the oldest National Park in Croatia. In 1979, Plitvice Lakes National Park was included in the UNESCO list of World Naural Heritage sites. The Park represents a phenomenon of karst hydrography. The lakes are known for their cascades and the ongoing biodynamic process of tufa formation under specific ecological and hydrological conditions.
Barac's caves are ready for tourist sightseeing, protected locality – natural monument of geomorphologic interest, important archaeological finds of prehistoric artefacts, very rich in cave formations (stalactites, stalagmites and stalagnates), roomy and large halls and hallways suitable for all visitors. 45 – 60 minute guided tours are organized with professional guides speaking about cave's general geological structure as well as its characteristics, cave's creation and archeological findings, special attention being given to numerous different cave formation. Tours are available for Croatian, English, German or Italian speaking tourists. On the gate to the cave visitors get some equipement like halmets.
„The Old Town Trail“ lies and stertches along the Korana river canyon between an Old Town Drežnik and the „Korana“ campsite. Being 2000 meters long and rising between 335 and 385 metres above the sea level the trail provides an educational and cultural experience. The construction of trail with no uphills or downhills gives you a chance to experience the trail's plants in all their wealth and if lucky you could also see some of the animals living there. Also you can see the river Korana from few belvederes or you can visit watermill on the river Korana.
Rastoke in city Slunj – city Slunj is situated above the rivers Slunjčica and Korana in pitoresque area by main road to Plitvice Lakes, middle and south Dalmatia. Nature beautys were always atractive to passangers and inquisitive persons. The pearl of Slunj, water – mill settlement Rastoke, is made by interesting play of nature which overflows green – blue watters of Slunjčica over the seder cliffs into river Korana, and creates many waterfalls, little lakes, cascades and rapid streams.
