Castles - Sklabiňa

Pôvodne kráľovský hrad vybudovali na mieste staršieho hradiska v prvej pol. 13. stor. Impulzom k jeho prestavbe, v rámci ktorej obnovili aj pozorovaciu vežu a umiestniliv nej gotickú kaplnku, bol v prvej pol. 15. stor. požiar. Koncom 15. stor. opätovne vyhorel a obnovený bol až v pol. 16. stor. Napokon zač. 17. stor. postavili v predhradí renesančný kaštieľ. Stal sa sídlom Turčianskej župy až do pol. 18. stor., kedy jeho miesto zaujal nový stoličný dom v Martine. Horná časť hradu odvtedy začala upadať, ale samotný kaštieľ sa udržial v dobrom stave až do roku 1944, kedy ich vypálili fašistické vojská aj spolu s obcou Sklabinský Podzámok.
