Castles - Hrad Strečno

Zrúcaniny hradu. Prvá zmienka o hrade ako o mieste, kde sa vyberalo mýto pred vstupom do Žiliny v smere od Turca je z roku 1321. Objekt bol najprv kráľovským majetkom a od konca 14. storočia menil majiteľov. Najväčší stavebný rozvoj zaznamenal hrad v 15. a 16. storočí, pričom v 17. storočí došlo k posledným významným zmenám. V 18.-tom storočí hrad stráca postupne význam, ale napriek tomu sa dodnes zachovala jeho veľká časť. Počas druhej svetovej vojny sa v okolí hradu odohrávali ťažké boje, ktoré ho značne poškodili.
Rekonštrukčné a konzervačné práce na hrade sa realizovali v posledných rokoch. V roku 1994 boli dokončené hlavné práce a v roku 1995 bol hrad sprístupnený verejnosti.
